Environment, Social, Governance has been in the news for several years now and interest in the ESG practices of firms is gaining momentum. #UNPRI mandates, #GRI and #SASB guidelines, and a positive inclination shown by investors, financial institutions, asset owners and operators across sectors is accelerating ESG compliance. Raising capital or making investments has not drawn so much attention in the past.
ESG is here to stay, and a strong track record will likely shape a firm‘s competitiveness. In the near future, firms will be evaluated not just on financial performance and disclosures but also on the progress they are making in improving environmental and social impact to enable achievement of climate and sustainability goals. Those with superior ESG performance will out-compete for capital and become more attractive to their customers and suppliers.
While many firms have launched ESG efforts, others are just beginning to explore how and where to start. In the #ESGSeries, we present several articles to help firms “Build Resilience in ESG”. Part 1 of this series is attached as a PDF, and focuses on “How to Start your ESG Journey”.
