Materiality Assessment & ESG Philosophy Statement Development

CLIENT: Kuniko Limited

Project/company overview

Kuniko Limited is a European focused mineral explorer and exploration project developer, targeting metals for electromobility, including copper, nickel and cobalt, and prospects for both battery and technology metals. Kuniko aims to support society’s transition to a low-carbon, resilient and resource-efficient economy. In this context, Kuniko is committed to sustainable, low carbon and ethical mining practices in the development of its projects. With a mandate to maintain a net zero carbon footprint from exploration through production, Kuniko aims to be at the forefront of sustainable mining.

Problem

In support of this aspiration, Kuniko started on its ESG journey, with the commencement of initial ESG commitments and reporting. However, they identified the need to improve their understanding of ESG and how it fit into the wider business risks and opportunities in order to proceed.

Outcome

Adaptus is providing Kuniko with ongoing support to progress their ESG actions and to advance their overall ESG agenda. Adaptus conducted a materiality assessment to provide the clarity to develop an ESG strategy and roadmap. Adaptus continues to scope out necessary actions that are in line with Kuniko’s mission to stand at the forefront of sustainable mining and support society’s transition to a low-carbon, resource-efficient economy.

Value

By a methodical and comprehensive review, Adaptus provided Kuniko with the relevant ESG understanding, and a clear ESG roadmap to follow in order to achieve its sustainable, low carbon and ethical approach to critical mineral mining.
