Project/company overview
A junior ocean restoration venture proposes to establish 200 hectares of habitat, for the growing global market. They also seek to act as an offset option for marine industries that cause damage / degradation to marine ecosystems, and venture into the carbon sequestration and eco-tourism markets.
Problem
As part of their business planning, the company wished to gain further clarity on the potential success of the project in terms of its physicality and impact from environmental regulations.
Outcome
Adaptus conducted a review of the physical (marine environment) and regulatory risks involved with the proposed project, considering those that have the greatest bearing on the success of the habitat and future of the project. Adaptus provided mitigation strategies for the venture to consider as it prepares to respond to investors and other interested stakeholders in relation to ESG and climate change uncertainty.
Value
This review provides a greater understanding of the potential risks to the venture from climate change and the physical environment, and how they may be mitigated.
