The client operates over 200MW of utility-scale wind energy assets, and has a mission to drive innovation in the energy sector while delivering meaningful decarbonisation solutions.
Problem
This scope of work emerged after Adaptus facilitated the creation of the client’s ESG Strategy. The client recognised that their procurement decisions have a role in meeting their commitments to operating their assets in a sustainable manner, and enabling and contributing to improved sustainability outcomes across their supply chain.
Outcome
Adaptus created a new Sustainable Procurement Framework document for the client, which aligned to ISO 20400:2017 (Sustainable Procurement). The client endorsed the framework document which provided:
- An approach to sustainable procurement tailored to their business
- A stepwise procurement process, including recommended actions and checklists, which was mapped against the client’s material ESG topics
- Guidelines for communicating sustainability requirements, information needs, and a contractor evaluation process

Having a Sustainable Procurement Framework in place put our client in a position to realise several expected benefits, including meeting their stakeholders’ and owners’ ESG expectations, providing competitive advantage, stimulating innovation in their supply chains to generate shared value, meeting present and future compliance requirements, reducing financial liabilities and reducing risks to their brand and reputation.
